Vindaloo Soup

Photobucket

Yup you read it right! Vindaloo Soup, I went against the naysayers, ignored the doubters and just went ahead and made it. Grabbed a packet of Hidi Grand vindaloo paste (50p from Home Bargains), heated it on a hob without meat (hey it was almost vegan hehe) and tipped it into a bowl. Bingo!
So how did I come up with the idea? Am I so BADASS that im willing to eat 'raw' vindaloo curry? Truth is I was feeling a little under the weather but was tired of boring old chicken soup, so decided a bit more horsepower was needed (emphasis on 'power' not 'horse'.) And do you know what? It wasn't half bad either! In fact if I had used a better curry paste and not some cheap stuff from Home Bargains this would have been fairly f**king awesome! Cleared my sinus headache lovely.
Another bonus was it restored my appetite. Weird huh? Curry seems to have this effect on me, I might be suffering from the dodgiest of stomach pains (very rare due to Ox-like constitution) but one whiff of a strong curry and im healed like Jesus on a leper.

Molotov Cocktail

My first metal vid!

That up there is the first heavy metal music video I ever owned: Molotov Cocktail. Bbought for me by a very understanding Mother at Christmas and boy I was chuffed to leather and studdery! 1984 was the year CBS/Fox released this awesome little VHS cassette (not long after the wheel was invented.) I must have watched and rewound it a dozen times straight off the bat (the carols being on definate hold), amazed at finally being able to see my metal heroes perform 'live' in my living room. Remember this was early eighties and coverage of music was in its absolute infancy with regards to programmes and videos covering music. Even more so for such a niche genre as heavy metal, there was no Youtube or Spotify, so having a metal video containing 8 songs by top names was bragging rights. Oh yes!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Yup moshers, Iron Maiden and Rammstein are the two main headliners for Download 2013. Thats Official and if you have any sense, you will be heading over to the festiaval website next friday to order your tickets. Even if you happen to be skint, sell a kidney or something because it will be worth it. These two bands are amazing live and to get the chance to see both at the same festival, well its more than enough to get yer pants/ies moist. Hell even it was Maiden and Rammstein appearing the price of tickets will be worth it.

Cannibal Corpse

Evisceration Plague

Cannibal Corpse are a killer f**king band. Their last three albums, Kill, Evisceration Pague and Torture have all been mighty slabs of pure death metal. (And I love the records before those too of course. Eaten Back to Life!) I always begin the day with a Corpse album, its like a power shot of adrenaline injected straight into the f**king eyeballs and make no mistake.
And when I first heard them way waaay back I dismissed the band as merely a gimmick and trying too hard to nick Obituary's style. What a fool I was and Id like to go back in time and kick my younger self in the ass for thinking lie that. Although in my defense, I didnt think that for very long and was soon a Cannibal Corpse fan having been won over by their unrelenting power, aggression and talent to write POUNDING-HEAVY-AS-SHIT metal songs. Hell when you discover such a bad ass band as the Corpsters, it isn't long before repenting those earlier words of doubt. (You can't really blame me for the initial doubt, ive seen too many wannabes in my 30 years of being a metalhead, but Cannibal Corpse are NOT one of them.)
Anyway enjoy these videos and if this does happen to be your first introduction to the band, then head over to Youtube and kick out some more of their brillantly heavy tunes. You won't regret it! Unless your ears and innards are made of cloth. MOSH THOSE NUTS OFF!!

Fugu As Fug

Japanese delicacy, the fugu fish (a type of blowfish) is one of the most metal dishes EVER. The fish is two hundred times more poisonous than cyanide and one small mistake during preparation can kill the hungry diner (23 people have died since 2000 from eating it.) So bad ass is a plateful of this, chefs need to be members of a guild and have a special licence from the Japanese government in order to be able to make and serve it. Its not cheap either and costs anything upward of £75 in Tokyo's swankier restaurants.
Fugu fish poisoning has been described as "rapid and violent", beginning with a numbness around the mouth until paralysis arrives as a foreword to blessed death. Oh and you will remain conscious until the reaper calls. There is no antidote. Despite all this, Fugu eating is extremely popular with Japanese diners and tourists alike. Like I said, bad ass.

Heres a guy eating Fugu. His mouth goes numb but he'll be fine (he hopes.)
